Ops. Such an useless museum that I forgot to talk about it.

15/05/2014 - Three weeks ago I've been at the Museum of the Overseas Chinese in Xiamen, the most important one in the city. Ok, it's not the bad actually, it shows the life of the Overseas Chinese. For an European, the Chinese immigration is felt just in the last years, while in the US for example it's older. More or less everything is in Chinese, but at the entrance there are some 18-years-old girls that try to speak English with you. The only problem is that they don't know absolutely nothing about the history of the Overseas Chinese. So, not that interesting to me. My hope was to find someone that could help me with my dissertation. Yes, sure.

大嶝岛, where you can even feel how closed the Promised Land is.

10/05/2014 - Today I went to Dadengdao with Samora and Eunbin, our new Korean friend. It's quite far from the campus, like everything here, we had to take two busses, but it's always closer than the center. Anyway, we took the 790 bus, than we changed for the 760 till the last stop. It was a really nie trip, where you can see the countryside around, that strange part of countryside with trees (yes, in Xiang'An there are no trees). And then, you reach this island (you cannot even see that it's an island). We went just to the Taiwanese Market, but I would like to come back to see the historic places as well. This island is famous because it was the last border before Taiwan, so it was the place where China had its army. In this place everything seems to be clean and perfect, there was even the sun shining! Taiwan, to us, is a kind of "Promised Land", because it's China, but not that much actually. Students who have been there talk about it all the time. So close, but at the meantime so far!
