I spent in Xiamen almost three months, and now I can say some things about it. I had some beautiful experiences in China before this, is this among those amazing ones? Not at all.
Let's see. The place is very new, but it's really in the middle of nowhere. Everything is so far away, both inside the campus and outside. To go to the city centre it's an hour and a half, and you have to come back till 22:00, because otherwise you have to get a taxi back (about 120 RMB, not that much, but every week it's quite expensive anyway). It takes three hours of your life every weekend! Really too much time.
The office of the university is useless, every time I go there I just wanna burn it all. Why? They do not know anything, comparing to them Jon Snow is such a wise man (GoT quote, sorry). But this is ok, I mean, in China it's quite common.
The room is actually shit. It's full of mould, really so unhealty! I'm lucky that I will live here just for 5 months. Looking at picture of Zhejiang Daxue, I'm just wondering why I haven't chosen that university.
Xiamen is a nice city, not so big, but still nice. The only problem is that I have been there few times.
Food. No, don't talk about this. Please, not yet.
So, would I reccomend this university?
ABSOLUTELY NOT.
Not yet, it's still new, and there's nothing around. Probably in five years everything will change, but not now.
